One of the latest virus doing the round is the one that shows the message
“Some dangerous trojan horses detected in your system. Microsoft Windows XP files corrupted. This may lead to the destruction of important files in C:\WINDOWS. Download protection software now!”
on a pop up window. clicking on ‘yes’ will promt one to download a malware, if ‘cancel’ ,you will be redirected to a webpage “http://free-viruscan.com/id/4912933/4/1/ ” that fakes a system scan.
To get around this issues, download a patch called FixIEDef by ShadowPuterDude.
Run the dowloaded exe and that should get rid of the virus.
However if in case, you get an error running the exe file , try dowloading and installing Windows Script 5.7 and Windows Script 5.6 for windows XP and windows 2000 respectively .
Kwel………..

Hey Thr,
I really appreciate that your program works for all the people but i do not know why it is not solving my problem. when this message started appearing in my computer i ran the AVG antivirus and some trojans were removed but the problem was not solved. I then found out this link to your page and downloaded your IEfix. When i ran your fix and it said finished i read the log it created. the log said
!!! Files that have been deleted !!!
No malicious files found
——————————————————————————–
!!! Directories that have been removed !!!
No malicious directories to be removed
——————————————————————————–
!!! Registry entries that have been removed !!!

In case this will help anyone else having the problem and not being able to find a solution:
——————————————————————————–
!!! Files that have been deleted !!!
C:\Documents and Settings\[COMPUTER NAME]\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\*.*
C:\WINDOWS\SwSys1.bmp
C:\WINDOWS\SwSys2.bmp
C:\WINDOWS\system32\odyp.dll
——————————————————————————–
Search for those if the FixIEDef thing doesn’t solve your problem (May be hidden files, remember). To show hidden folders: Tools – Folder Options – View Tab – Show Hidden Files and Folders (Radial Button option).
If all else fails and you can’t find a successful program option to solve the problem then a complete reformat should fix it (though that is a rather undesirable option I would imagine, but this is a rather annoying virus).
Good luck everyone!
